Then as a last case effort, do minor adjustments to the BassMiddleTreblePresence right on the face of the XT. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. I have downloaded a bunch of them from the web site but they all seem to get lost in the mix. Does any one have or know where I can get some good patches that cut good in a band setting. ![]() There are SO many variables in what you are doing, it is hard to point you the direction and say download this all will be done and good. I will try to address as many of these variables that come to mind, as I can, In hopes of helping you get the most out of your setup. First off, there are always questions. What kind of band are you in What kind of music are you playing, what other instruments are in your band. Are you playing multiple venues with the same direct to board setup 3) Are you getting lost in the mix on the FOH, or the monitors, or both 4) Do you have the same soung guy gig to gig, or are you using whowhat the venue has OK, that out of the way, lets hit some of the hurdles you run into when going direct to board. Mains and monitors with crappy frequency response. This hurts because the predominant part of the guitar is heard in the middle frequencies. A sound guy that fiddles too much with the knobs. Not enough monitor feedsmixes 4) Poor venue sound quality. You can come up with the ultimate guitar tone sitting in your office, but, in the real world, rarely do they work. In a band setting, you almost always have to boost your mids and highs, adjust your gain, and fiddle with your effects blend. The reason being, the frequencies that the human ear is centered on, is the midrange. Take the mids out, the ear hears it as a percieved volume drop. If your going for that california crunch that mesa-boogies are known for (the scooped sound), you are fighting the bass player for a hole in the frequency curve (that likely, your not gonna win). If you have a second guitarist, your hole in the frequency curve just got smaller. That being said, and the issue being, so many of the tones you download for the XT have been built in an office or a studio, they just dont work on the stage without a fair amount of tweeking. Multiply that by every band being different with different gear and their frequency curves having different size holes for the guitar to fit in and cut thru the mix. Then add to that every sound system reproducing all this differently, compounded by how every venue absorbs, cancells and reflects different frequencies different. ![]() Pod Xt Live Patches Software On ItI took my laptop with the line6 editing software on it, and sat it on a music stand where I could twiddle with it. The ones I found I liked were (these are the unchanged titles i found them under) 1) MarkIIC Lead (mesa boogie with lots of hair) 2) MarkIIC Rythem (mesa boogie toned down a smidge) 3) Match V-30 4x12 (matchless 30 watter very brown in gain) Then via the line 6 editor on the laptop I tweaked them real time during practice. Dont worry about any effects, start with looking for your foundation tone. If the patches were pleasing to start with, minor tweaks in the bass, highs and presence, heavier tweaks on the gain and mids should start getting you to cut thru the mix better. Once I got the basic tones down that worked in a band situation, going from venue to venue was not much more than threatening the guy running sound to make sure all my eq bands were at 12 0clock on the board, then direct him to adjust that eq curve.
